All I could do yesterday was jump in the lake and sit on the rocks. I think anyone who runs outside is incredibly stupid and runs the risk of becoming seriously ill. My two roommates have decided to run the marathon, which is awesome. Neither of them are runners, so they have had to go on this intensive training program to be ready in time. Needless to say, they talk about all things running all the time. Plus, two of our other friends are running it. I didn't want to be left out, or be the resident "fat ass" so I signed up for the 1/2. The marathon was out of the question because I didn't have enough time to train properly and people die doing it....

Is this wrong? I got my butt outside and ran 6 miles. It's the farthest I've ever gone since I've started training. I felt great and probably could have kept going but I wanted to pace myself. It was cloudy, misting, and slightly cool and the greatest running weather ever!! I'm really proud of myself because I had such a crappy afternoon (a chocolate meltdown) and I made it through. I did however, eat cheese (not in my goals) but I did it sparingly and felt ok.

Day 2, no coffee.... this shit's killin' me!
A self-help site for all those people out there that signed up for a marathon (or 1/2) and didn't realize what they got themselves into until too late!

Must Have Chocolate!!!!

It's 3:16 PM and I'm at work. I need some....

I do not like to exercise in the morning! My schedule for the past week has kept me so busy that I haven't run once! I've been sleeping poorly on top of it, so getting my ass outta bed ain't gonna happen.

At this point I feel like a tired blob that keeps getting bigger and bigger. I'm sure that this is all in my mind, but it reflects bad on me because that's the image I project to the world. I think that I need a complete "makeover" inside and out!

First things first:

Keep exercising! I know that if I just keep doing it, it'll get better.

Care about my goals! I should want to do this!

Make an Exercise plan!

Change my eating habits - healthy, healthy, healthy!

No caffeine! - That means no coffee and no pop! Hopefully this will help with my digestive problems and let me get some sleep.

Stop eating cheese! - I think this will be my hardest goal yet! I love cheese, it's my favorite food. I eat too much of it and I can see the results. Cheese should be a treat, not a staple!

Balance my meals! More protein and fruits and veggies!

Review my goals and write about them daily.

Then I can take care of the rest damnit!

A self-help site for all those people out there that signed up for a marathon (or 1/2) and didn't realize what they got themselves into until too late!

The beginning....

I've always been athletic and active, until recently....

Last year I graduated college, broke up with my boyfriend of 3 years, began a new job, and moved into a new apartment so I basically began a whole new life. Needless to say, I was stressed and emotional and it's taking it's toll on me physically. I put on a few pounds (Ok, I didn't pork-out, but the pants are getting tight!) and stopped exercising. Plus, I sit in front of a computer all day!

I think I'm at the point where I've adjusted to my new life and now I need to get a few things in order, mainly getting back into shape! I live by Lake Michigan and watch people running along Lake Shore Drive (LSD) and I noticed that they were all healthy, skinny, and in shape! It didn't take me long to put it all together:

1/2 Marthon = Training = Lose Weight = Get in Shape = HEALTHY HAPPY SEXY ME!!!

So in a moment of brillance (or stupidity depending on how you look at it) I signed up for the half! That was the easy part 'cause I could do it sittin' on my ass in front of my computer and all I needed was a credit card! I'm surprisingly good at that....

My problem, getting my butt in gear to start training!
A self-help site for all those people out there that signed up for a marathon (or 1/2) and didn't realize what they got themselves into until too late!
